Alfonso Poire

Alfonso Poire received his undergraduate degree in microbiology and molecular genetics at the University of Vermont culminating in co-authoring a paper entitled “Successive evolutionary steps drove Pooideae grasses from tropical to temperate regions doi: 10.1111/nph.14868” . In August 2019 he joined the Karstens Lab as a volunteer lab assistant, while part of the lab he worked mainly on investigating microbiome visualization software. He completed his capstone internship In La Jolla California in the laboratory of Dr.Christopher Dupont at the J Craig Ventner institute, where he investigated the colonization of Feather Moss by cyanobacteria and graduated from OHSU’s bioinformatics program in June of 2020.
